Bicycling in Provence was the motivation for this trip. We joined 13 others plus a tour leader and assistant on a 10-day cycling tour of Provence, beginning in Nîmes and ending in Roussillon, with Discovery Bicycle Tours. The terrain is varied: from the marshes of the Camargue; through farms, vineyards, and gently rolling hillsides; to the the Alpilles and Vaucluse Mountains. The weather in Provence was sunny, with the Mistral offering cool breezes as well as challenges. Extending the trip a bit on either end, we added Paris, exploring neighborhoods and museums, with a day’s excursion to Fontainebleau.
