Modica

May 2016

Modica is known for its chocolate, using a recipe imported from Mexico. Only using cocoa and sugar, which is added after melting a mass of chocolate, the resulting bars are gritty, used mainly for making a very thick hot beverage. Before tasting the chocolate, however, we were “treated” to another Modican specialty--rides in Fiat 500’s. Driven by several racing club members, we drove up and down, through narrow alleys, right up to the Fiat in front of us. We stopped at an overlook and to see a church which had survived a huge flood, each time returning to the cars for another roller-coaster ride.
