Arequipa
Arequipa is ringed by snow-capped volcanoes: Misti, Chachani, and Hualca Hualca. The 550 year-old frozen maiden “Juanita” was found on nearby Ampato Volcano in 1995. Her mummy and other artifacts are housed in Arequipa’s Museo Santurarios Andinos. We stayed at the Posada del Monasterio, directly across from the Convent of Santa Catalina.
