Dogs and Pasture Animals
A highlight of the trip was a visit to a sheep farm, where we learned about the economics of farming and saw demonstrations by working sheep dogs and of shearing. Dairy and beef cattle are prevalent, with worries about the water table. Originally introduced for hunting, deer are now picked up by helicopters and transported to farms, where they are bred. Germany is an important importer of the venison.
