Rockland, Winter Harbor,

and

the Schoodic Peninsula

Driving along the Maine coast, we stopped to see the Owls Head Lighthouse, built in 1825 (later rebuilt and renovated) at the entrance to Rockland Harbor on Penobscot Bay. We then continued into the city of Rockland to spend time at the Farnsworth Museum before driving to Winter Harbor, on the Schoodic Peninsula, site of the northern portion of Acadia National Park. We bicycled around the peninsula and walked through the small fishing village of Winter Harbor and, thanks to a friendly employee, we learned about lobstering at the Winter Harbor Lobster Coop. After cycling around the Schoodic Peninsula, we drove to Corea, another nearby fishing village, for lobster on the wharf and a walk around the harbor neighborhood.
