Florence

September 2008

We ended our trip to Italy with two days in Florence, staying in Antica Dimora, a small B&B on the second floor (in the U.S. that’s the third floor) of a conveniently located building not far from all major sites, but away from most tourist and city noise. We visited churches and museums, and walked around the city, on both sides of the Arno. We encountered two parades: one, with people in Renaissance garb and the other, with veteran Alpini, Italian mountain military units. We arrived in Piazza Santa Croce to find masses of people who had just completed Corri la Vita, a race/walk to fight breast cancer.
