Colle Val d’Elsa
September 2008
Colle Val d’Elsa consists of an upper, medieval town, and a lower, more modern town at the bottom of the hill, reached today by an elevator or path. The elevator leads to a tunnel, used as a bomb shelter during World War II. Colle produces 90% of the Italian lead-crystal, 15% of the world’s crystal.
