We chose a shorter, though also high, route from Riquewihr to Lapoutroie. We climbed up to a forest path and emerged to see beautiful views of rolling pastureland. We stopped to eat lunch near a waterwheel in the tiny village of Fréland, then continued on through pastureland to Lapoutroi.
