Basel

The highlight of our time in Basel was our visit with Laura, who treated us to a tour of Theater Basel and allowed us to sit in on a rehearsal of Lucio Silla by Mozart. As well, Laura took us to Fondation Beyeler, exhibiting wonderful photos by Wolfgang Tillmans. We took a trolley to the museum in Riehen, but walked back partway to Basel along a bicycle/pedestrian path through woods. We also toured part of the Kunstmuseum and walked through much of the city during our short, two-day stay. Laura took us to two excellent restaurants, for a traditional Swiss lunch and an Italian dinner, and she hosted us at her beautiful apartment for a light, traditional dinner. We stayed at the modern East West Hotel, overlooking the river.
