Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons

Ten days in the West was filled with hikes, mostly 1/2 day long, and incredible geologic formations. The earth comes alive, literally, in Yellowstone. The Tetons were somewhat shrouded in smoke from fires burning in Idaho, Oregon, Wyoming, and Montana. Cody, Wyoming is pretentiously the West: the home of Buffalo Bill, complete with a large museum, a musical cowboy review, and, nearby, a World War II Japanese relocation camp. The downtown of Bozeman, Montana is thriving, probably due to a concerted effort at revival, with big boxes and strip malls in the periphery of the town. The Museum of the Rockies has a large and well-curated collection of dinosaurs.
